Summary
In this high visibility role, your main focus will to be provide leadership and direction for the IH&S global marketing, business development and strategic planning in the Diagnostic market segment across multiple business units, technologies and product lines. With minimal supervision you work to provide direction and support to sales, research and development, engineering, manufacturing, and administrative department management for revenue generation in the Diagnostics market segment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, monitor, communicate and implement worldwide business growth strategies (short and long-term) with clearly defined goals, objectives, critical success factors, timelines, budgets and action items. Key output of this activity is high quality sales leads that can enter the sales process.
- Envision, develop and oversee the lead generation and qualification process.
- Oversee strategic and tactical global marketing plans including forecasts, budgets, market research, situation analysis, product portfolio management, product positioning and elements of marketing mix (product, price, promotion and distribution) to create competitive advantage.
- Participate in identifying, assessing and/or implementing strategic collaborations, product acquisitions, and/or joint business activities to achieve revenue targets and execute business and marketing strategies.
- Oversees the management of existing and new relationships with key customer leadership, globally, both public and private sectors. Translates networked relationships into business opportunities.
- Works with sales management to maximize revenue and execute marketing and sales strategies by adjusting marketing tactics based on channel performance, and ensuring sales teams’ needs for sales support material and training are met.
- Ensures R&D/Engineering management has market-driven input (revenue potential/market characteristics/CTC’s) for product development strategies; coordinates with management at a strategic level to prioritize products under development and manage product commercialization issues.
- Measures business performance against expectations, report on results, and adjusts strategies and tactics to accomplish business goals.
- Be a public spokesperson for tradeshows, press interviews, customer visits etc
- Ability to build relationships across departments and divisions in multiple geographic locations
- Ability to present to and influence cross functional peers and corporate level executives
- Manages performance of direct reports and cross-functional assigned team members to ensure accurate, timely and complete execution of strategies and tactical plans.
- Utilize Six Sigma, VSM and Lean Manufacturing tools, as applicable, to reduce marketing process variation, eliminate non-value added activities and defects and improve customer satisfaction.

Additional Information about the Position
Success in this position requires:
- B.A., B.S., with minimum of 2-5 years experience in a Product Management or related position and experience progressing through a series of increasingly responsible leadership positions. MBA preferred.
- Sales and customer support experience specific to this market is critical to this role. Substantial technical expertise is required and knowledge of fluid dynamics, hydraulic design, and competitive technologies is strongly desired.
- Knowledge of Diagnostic market highly desired.
- Experience successfully developing and implementing new product introductions or new market campaigns.
- Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Suite including word processing, spread sheets, presentation programs as well as publications programs and internet search engines required.
- Analytical skills including database creation and query ability desired.
- Proven ability to maintain the highest degree of quality and customer focus.
- Successful management of numerous competing priorities and ability to consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven editorial, writing experience in a marketing environment.

IDEX Health and Science (IH&S) is actively seeking talented professionals for our Marketing Research Analyst position.
In this exciting role, your main focus will to be to identify new market opportunities with an understanding of core IH&S competencies / capabilities. Under general supervision, you will work to identify and quantify customer values and translate their needs to required benefits and features of company offerings. As a Marketing Research Analyst, you will track and monitor key technical and application advances within target markets, assesses size and direction of markets, and identify critical influences on markets and customers.
The position can be based in our Rohnert Park, CA; Vancouver, WA; or Oak Harbor, WA facility.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Strategic Marketing and R&D teams to clearly understand and effectively execute research duties consistent with IH&S marketing strategy.
- Maintain up to date awareness and understanding of companies’ core competencies in products, processes, technology, and techniques. Understand and clearly communicates competitive threats to these competencies.
- Interview market experts, customers, and end users to elicit market needs and values (VOC – Voice of Customer). Summarize gathered information for marketing team and IH&S business unit leaders to support or re-direct strategy.
- Quantify market size, targeted market segments, and potential returns on investment and sales for recommended action(s). Support engineering and sales staff during development and penetration of markets with updated market and customer information.
- Develop market profiles to identify opportunities for penetration of new markets and share growth in current markets. This will include competitive positioning summary, recommended products, technology, and service offers with estimates of necessary timing and potential return.
- Read and summarize technical papers, patent filings, trade journals and other sources of initial trends in a market. Report monthly to the marketing group and quarterly to the senior staff on key findings and trends that may impact our strategy or business.
- Utilize Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping and other Lean Enterprise tools, as applicable, to reduce process variation, eliminate non-value added activities and defects and improve customer satisfaction.
- Own entire market research process, including metric collection and reporting.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Additional Information about the Position
Success in this position requires:
- BS with a Life Science focus, MS or PhD preferred.
- 3 years market research experience preferred
- Experience with working with market research tools and interviewing customers to accurately determine VOC is preferred
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to interpret qualitative information and develop quantitative assessment, including financial analysis.
- Demonstrated capability in identifying patterns in disparate data sources.
- Superb ability to articulate information clearly and effectively to individuals and groups.

The Role
The Role:
- Manage and grow major accounts in Germany and central European countries.
- Developing new business for OEM applications for the HST brands.
- Work closely with HST resources on the territory to ensure customer needs and company sales targets are achieved.
- Prepare and present sales reports on territory/account progress toward goals for each HST company opportunity.
- Contributing to new product development by providing market intelligence from competitor information, pricing, etc.
- Extensive travel in the region is expected with a high focus on customer faced visits and attendance at trade shows.
The Person
The Person:
- Extensive experience in dealing with OEM accounts
- Must be fluent in both English and German – multilingual a definite plus!
- Proven sales experience required. Within the medical technology market segment such as analytical instruments, IVD/BioTech instruments/systems, or life sciences laboratory market segment a plus. But open to other diverse market experience.
- The candidate must be highly driven, resourceful, and innovative. They must have superior customer relations skills and proven results with increasing sales, multi-level negotiation techniques and selling critical enabling components and/or sub-systems solutions.
- Must have proven experience closing multi-million dollar / multi-year contracts.
- The RSM must be able to work independently using their own initiative, but with an ability to interface well with support teams as and when required.

- Leads quality improvement projects that drive continuous improvement through utilization of tools such as DOE, Six Sigma, DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, 8D Root Cause Analysis, and Lean.
- Develops, maintains, and analyzes Key Performance Indicators to identify recurring trends and drive improvement actions.
- Leads investigations to determine root causes of product defects including field and internal failures.
- Must be able to travel (by air, train, bus and/or automobile) to customer and supplier sites throughout the world. Travel estimated to comprise up to 30% of job related activities.
- Maintain composure and professional approach when dealing with public.

- Coordinate the first article approval process between the organization and suppliers.

Qualifications
- BS degree in engineering discipline, MS preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a supplier quality engineer required.
- Experience with electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical assembly.
- Experience with FMEA preferred.
- Regulations and international quality system standards desired.
- Must be able to identify and recommend effective solutions to problems, utilizing technical problem solving tools, and working individually and with others within and outside his/her function.
- Must have capability to review, analyze, summarize and interpret quality systems data, draw conclusions, make appropriate decisions and recommendations, write reports and give oral presentations.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and report progress against goals in an objective and clear manner.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers and computer database software, including Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Visio and Project knowledge desirable.
- Familiarity with the use of ERP/Document Control systems (e.g. Oracle, JDE, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD).

As our Product Manager, you will be responsible for growth in our fluidic solutions and/or Peristaltic Pump product lines through coordination of the required sales, marketing and engineering activities. The two key brands manufactured at the Oak Harbor, WA facility are the Upchurch Scientific brand and the Ismatec pump brand. Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will be expected to travel both domestically and internationally approximately 30% of the year. Your previous experience in a component product environment paired with your knowledge of value pricing and the marketing of new products will be essential to this role, as you will be considered the 'business expert' among the field sales, marketing, engineering, and product development organizations, as well as by the corresponding customer base. Your ability to create and maintain a high level of influence within a global organization will enable you to set a strategic direction and road map for the product line thereby creating continuous incremental product value to the customer. This is your opportunity to be hands-on in the revenue generation and growth of our products within the fluid-handling instrumentation market and experience the rewards that follow your success.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a Technical discipline (Physical Science or Engineering) and/or a Business discipline (Administration or Marketing) with at least 5 years of combined sales/marketing or product management experience in a high technology products environment.
- Experience in a product environment targeted as components and/or sub-systems for sales into OEM Instrument manufacturers, or for complete OEM Instrument products for sales to end-users of such equipment highly desirable.
- Familiar with a variety of marketing concepts, practices and procedures.
- Good financial understanding and analysis at the Income Statement level of financial reporting required.
- Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with customers and work within a team environment.
- Language skills other than English is beneficial

Summary
This position is accountable for the development, evaluation, documentation, and improvement of the manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards in efforts to insure manufacturability at minimal cost that meet the required quality, repeatability, cycle-time, and safety goals.
Essential Job Functions
1. Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing processes for repeatability that meet our quality, cost, cycle-time and safety needs (including process control techniques).
2. Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
3. Collaborating with design engineering through a stage gate product development process to launch new products on-time and on budget that meet both the customers’ and business’ needs.
4. Conferring with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchase, and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications.
5. Estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions.
6. Working closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
7. Designing and developing manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
8. Providing engineering support for the assigned production department(s) to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems (Reach out to the RDE team, as required).
9. Provides production floor and assembly support in technical matters related to interpretation of engineering documentation, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), rework, manufacturing difficulties and specification, and implementation of training on new processes.
10. Take the lead on root cause analysis, corrective action, and report generation for product returns that are under warranty or customer complaints.
11. Initiate, justify, and implement capital equipment, as required.

Job Description and Responsibilities
The Senior Buyer/Planner will have complete responsibility for procuring materials, components, supplies, and services. Obtains quotes, negotiates purchase agreements, and maintains supplier relationship. Monitors supplier performance. Takes ownership for cost, inventory levels, on time delivery, and quality. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, energetic, detail oriented and tenacious go-getter about managing materials.
Essential Functions
1. Manage Kanban system for assigned commodities and suppliers. Negotiate and implement Kanban arrangements with suppliers through consigned inventory. Minimize liability and EOZ risk by monitoring pull sizes to ensure they are aligned to current customer demand.
2. Provides for the continual improvement of inventory control systems to track and reduce inventory levels and increase turns, while maintaining sufficient levels to meet customer requested delivery dates.
3. Manages materials control/order policy, finding opportunities to improve processes including the materials forecasts and order policy/lot sizes in order to effectively mirror our processes and anticipate material requirements while maintaining low inventory levels.
4. Uses existing ERP system and other data warehouse devices for effectively managing inventory.
5. Highly involved in designing our manufacturing pull system and a member of the Lean Team.
6. Develop and maintain a perpetual inventory system that guaranties agreement between the on-hand balance counts in the computer system and the actual on-hand balances in the physical plant.
7. Responsible for proactively improving supplier quality and OTD.
8. Coordinates vendor searches, selection and development of new suppliers, including being involved in New Product development supplier sourcing process.
9. Negotiates major purchasing contracts, blanket orders and long term purchase agreements taking into account liability.
10. Establishes mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to ensure high quality goods, reliable delivery dates, and reasonable and consistent pricing. Participate and provide leadership in the implementation and usage of PFEP and PPSM.
11. Utilize MRP software to manage “push” items and ensure on time delivery. Optimize inventory investment and service levels.
12. Monitor part level inventory turns and where required establish, implement and monitor countermeasures to ensure inventory turns goals are met.
13. Manage rejected materials by communicating with suppliers and quality control. Obtain approvals to return, rework or sort materials, Prepare appropriate paperwork and input or assume responsibility for the input of necessary paperwork.
14. Monitor the on time performance of suppliers and review results to them and management monthly. Develop and implement action plans with the supply chain engineer to improve the quality and on time performance of suppliers while maintaining or reducing costs.
15. Identify, evaluate, and recommend potential new opportunities for cost reduction with existing and new commodities or suppliers based on total cost of ownership. Identify and quantify related costs from sourcing, procurement, delivery, storage, usage and disposal.
16. Actively pursue the elimination of waste in the supply chain by eliminating non valued added steps in the process, improving quality and championing standardization.
Qualifications
1. Five years of managing materials in a manufacturing environment.
2. BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent.
3. Demonstrated background in inventory planning and control systems emphasizing LEAN manufacturing and pull/Kanban principles.
4. Strong skills in managing projects (PMI certification as plus)
5. Thorough knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
6. Demonstrated experience in managing procurement initiatives
7. Certifications in Material Management, APICS and/or LEAN Supply Chain preferred.
8. Experience working in a matrix environment.
9. Experience purchasing from Low Cost Regions preferred
Skills/Aptitudes
1. A working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
2. Ability to conceive, plan, provide training for, and implement major new processes and procedures.

Title/Position: Senior Fluidics Engineer

At the foundation of this investment is a coordination of the current successful products and assembly capability of IH&S, with a charter to focus more in technology application from the customer point of view that will enhance and extend our reputation for higher value technology integration, including controls for enhanced performance. This in turn can enable our customers’ ability to more rapidly innovate without having to invest as heavily outside their own core competence
This position’s primary responsibility is the development of IDEX fluidic product solutions in the Invitro Diagnostics (IVD) and Analytical Instrumentation (AI) markets. Integration with OEM architecture is a critical need and this position will have responsibility to assure standards are chosen to simplify and differentiate modular IDEX products in the marketplace. This includes investigation and incorporation of state of art hardware design that enables modular integration of fluidic subsystems into OEM instrumentation. Candidate must design, prototype, debug and transfer to production; pump, valve, degassing and analytical fluid dispensing designs. Familiarity with typical chemistries used in AI and IVD markets is required
Key to this strategy is the development of modularity in the design to allow for re-use of major design elements for rapid time to market and profitability. Candidate contributes to the development of multidimensional design implementation and revision control. Key contributor to the completion of customer solutions, proposals and strategies based on business goals and product objectives. Reviews completed proposals for technical integrity, quantification of risk and delivery estimate prior to presentation to customer. Additionally, the Senior Mechanical Fluidic Engineer is a key resource on a small team to determine and carry out fluid testing to meet customer requirements. This position will have oversight responsibility to ensure IDEX products can be increasingly integrated at a configurable assembly level for rapid time-to-market
The Mechanical Fluidic Engineer must also provide guidance to the Engineering and Manufacturing groups in the H&S business units regarding new product development to ensure the technical system architecture goals of the Integrated Solutions Group are achieved.
Work with Principal Engineer and IH&S Business Units to manage OEM System architecture strategy, including identification of requirements and specifications to optimize OEM integration of IDEX subsystem products in target applications.
Participate in initial customer concept reviews to develop product requirements/specifications for inputs and outputs for IDEX fluidic subsystems. Reviews each proposal for technical integrity, qualifications of risk, and strategic direction prior to presentation. Conducts feasibility studies on engineering proposals and related technical data for developing new equipment or modifying existing equipment for higher performance
Supports breadboard prototypes which may involve several engineering disciplines, including chemistry, electronics, mechanical design, optics, quality, reliability, etc. Develop and execute verification tests on integrated solutions modules/products
Create Lab View programs to control breadboards and prototypes to meet application requirements. Designs electro-mechanical systems-oriented products and prepares related installation, and operation specifications and instructions
Work closely with OEM's and Field Sales providing technical product support and product recommendations. Provide on-site, OEM and Field Sales support on a regular basis. Analyze, design, debug and troubleshoot fluid systems
